Update

Well, Chantelle seems to be doing fine. After attempting to have her stay still on the table for the scan, we all gave up. It was useless. duh. I tried to tell them that as I was making the appointment. So, after that wasted morning, we went to see the doctor again. She confirmed that she felt at this point, the swelling was down and she was not at all concerned for Tilly. She seemed fine and very happy. And, she is. So, for now, we are in the clear. We are still keeping an eye on her and attempting to keep her from her wreckless behavior. Wish us luck!

Preschool Graduation

Chloe has graduated from preschool. Can you even call it a graduation? One of the mom's in our co-op did a GREAT job of putting together a great little ceremony for the kids and parents. It was so stinkin cute! Next year Charlie will take her place while she goes to kindergarten! YEAH!!

This is the best she would give me before the party started - so congenial!
Jen brought these super cute diploma cupcakes for everyone. A nice touch!

The girls walking in... flash forward 13 years...time flies!

Jen also made the cute hats and sashes for the girls to wear- complete with sunglasses

I got to hand her "diploma." Seriously, she is such a ham!

The grads!

Chloe, Emma, Elizabeth, Abby, Ashlyn, & Cache (couldn't make it)

Chloe and Emma will are the only ones going into kindergarten next year and both are attending Fairlands

Celebrating with some goodies

Helmet Head

Tilly will be wearing this helmet for the next while. After almost a week after the accident, at least once everyday she fell and hit her head and also complained at least once that her head was hurting. On Friday I decided to take her in and was hoping that the doctor would just confirm she is fine and calm my lingering doubts. Well, he didn't exactly calm me. While she is acting like her normal self (a very good thing), she has some swelling on her skull near the place she fell. At the appointment he felt a soft spot on her head. He had me feel it as well as another doctor. This could be a sign of a skull fracture. It could also just be from the concussion and she is still healing. As a precaution, he ordered a CT to be done. We go in tomorrow to Children's hospital in Oakland. I hope it won't be anything serious. She really is doing well, but we just want to be sure. So for now... she is our helmet head all day and every day!

She is such a good sport! She loves to wear it!

The ER

Ughh... we had our first trip to the ER Saturday night.

Yesterday my parents and my family drove up to the hills of Placerville to visit my brother Ron and his family. They recently moved from UT to CA. The property they live on is beautiful, but lacking in amenities. They were going to be caretakers for the owner and set up an organic farm for her (right upt their alley), but her $$ fell through and now my brother is looking for more work. They are living in a trailer because there is no house on the property. Annie, his wife, is a better woman than I am. I don't think I could do that!

We took up lunch and stayed awhile before it started to rain on us. We decided to go to the quaint downtown. I loved the downtown area. I love all little downtowns in these small areas. They are full of antique shops, candy shops, and have a great small town feel. We were window shopping and then I hear Tilly crying. Apparently, Kevin had put her up on his shoulders. She, being a little stinker, jerked and arched her back and literally fell on her head on the sidewalk. She was crying and crying and when I asked what happened to her and he told me, my stomach just got sick. I immediately checked her pupils. She seemed okay, but was crying for about 10 minutes. She calmed down and we gave her a bottle to soothe. A few minutes after that she threw up on me. Then I kind of freaked out. My brother called his EMT friend and he suggested we go to the ER. We called another nurse friend and she agreed - Get to the hospital and check her out. I have to admit, I didn't want to go. What were they going to do? Plus, who knows how much the ER bill is going to be. But, I think Kevin and I both realized we needed to err on the safe side and have her checked out. So, we gathered our group and went to the ER. By this time, she was pretty lethargic and dazed. Thankfully, the wait was only about 10 minutes (SHOCKER!!). Kevin and my dad quickly whisked her away into a private room and gave her a blessing. I know this helped her AND Kevin and me feel calm throughout this whole ordeal. The ER doctor suggested a possibly CAT scan, but was apprehensive without any other symptoms because of the effects of radiation, etc. on small children. We stayed for a few hours of observation. She started to come out of her daze after about an hour. She started to be herself again. When she started to come out of it, I knew she would be okay. We just had to stick around for a little longer. Thankfully, they were stocked with crackers and milk and juice which she gladly ate. The poor thing was probably starving once she started to feel better.

After about 2 hours they released us from the ER and we headed home. The normal 2 hour drive took closer to 3 with some additional stops along the way. I think we fed Tilly too much too soon, because after 10 minutes in the car she threw up. :( I called the ER and asked if we should come back. Because she wasn't acting differently, we decided to hold off on it. But, about an hour later she was so darn cranky we decided to try and give her some tylenol and ended up throwing that (and everything else) up. She went through 3 outfits that evening and I went through two of mine. Our car stinks like puke, too. Bleh!

We finally made it home and we all crashed pretty quickly. Thankfully Chloe and Charlie slept all night. We just had to wake up Tilly a few times to make sure she was still okay and she was and IS! She is up and running like normal. We are so grateful she is okay. It is amazing how terrified you become and how helpless you feel when your little ones are hurt. I am so thankful she is okay and I love my little monkey so much! We are complete with her in our family!

This was our first trip to the ER and first major accident with the girls. Thankfully, the worst thing we have had to deal with has been the flu and throwing up. I hope we never have to go through that again!

My latest projects

I have tackled a few of my few outstanding projects and started another handful! I love my birthday banner! I have never worked with heat n' bond, so I am pretty impressed it turned out. Finally, a decoration I don't have to toss and will always have on hand! I liked it so much, I have started a fall one. I hope to finish it before September. Wish me luck!
I LOVE my birthday wreath! I saw this idea on a blog and LOVED it. We were going to do this for a SS activity, but balloons are expensive! I ordered 1,000 for the SS activity, but then changed our minds. BUT, that didn't stop my girls from opening ALL the bags and dumping them ALL out in our backyard!! I tried to salvage them from the rain and have about 500 more in a drawer for future use!

This was going to be a Vday decoration, but I ended up making one for my mom for her birthday and never finished mine. It is paper-cut hearts from a stamp. I used an old EFY book and cut out phrases that were about marriage, family, and love. I really like it and have it up in our family room now.

There you have it... back to work!

Easter

This year I wanted to have Easter with just US. My parents were in Scotland and it was technically their year with us, so we voted to celebrate alone. Like every year, we started the morning with an egg hunt. Sadly, it rained that night, so Kevin had to go and "check" the eggs to make sure the Easter bunny left them. Chloe didn't need any explanation of what was going on. Charlie needed a little reminder, and Tilly didn't quite get it. Maybe next year.

I was feeling pretty domestic. The previous evening I made PB eggs. SOOOO SOOOO SOOO good! They are comparable to Reese's PB eggs, but have to admit - these are better!! Kevin thought he died and gone to heaven when he tried them! ;)I attempted to make them cute, but gave up. They need no decoration - just need to it them. now. yummy.

Then, Easter morning I made banana foster french toast. Seriously delish! SOOO yummy. This takes some preparation, but definitely worth it.

To finish the morning off, we had a special lesson on the true meaning of Easter. I am so grateful we are able to teach our girls and they are beginning to understand. Such sweet spirits we have in our home. I love them so much!

It was bound to happen...

I was called to serve in the Primary. I am now the 2nd counselor. I am a little scared. I am a little excited. Wish me luck! The kids will need it!
