New Year's Eve 5k

I completed my 2nd 5k in 2011 on NYE!  The goal (like last year) was to run a half, but my darn knee just won't let me!  I had some physical therapy a few months before this, but clearly did something else right before the race because at 1.75 miles- the pain began.  Sadly, it wasn't a smooth run, but I finished and had a great time.  My friend Jill has been my running buddy and did AWESOME! I love running!

UGHH!!

What has happened to Blogger? I can't make any edits to my posts, change fonts, etc. I tried "upgrading" to the new templates and hate it. HELP! Anyone?!!

A friend from college is starting a "Be Healthy" competition for the next 6 months and whaddayaknow, I decided to join in. I am hoping the competition will help motivate me and get moving. I just finished 2 months of physical therapy (and paid an arm and a leg, literally) for the sessions and feel I HAVE to get my money out of them and actually continue exercising to get my knee up and running for good. I know, I am totally lazy. I have to admit, I enjoyed working out at night when Kevin came home from work. It was a nice break from a long day. But since he has been getting home after 8pm, my visits pretty much stopped (since February. Like I said - LAZY). My goal is to get up at 6am and go workout/run before I have to start working at 7:30am. The competition is pretty easy - if you do it. I am hoping at competition's end I will be a new woman! Here's to getting healthy!

Kindergarten!

We made it! The first day of school FINALLY arrived. Chloe was SOO excited. She has been looking forward to this day for about 2 years now. And it finally came! Kevin gave her a wonderful blessing that morning before he went to work. Man, she is a little Kevin! Twins, if you ask me ;)

Chloe is actually in the same classroom that I was in when I went to school here. It is a little surreal, but also a little nostalgic. She is in the afternoon class with Mrs. Green and has class from 11:30 to 2:50. The first week of school I rearranged my work schedule to allow me to take her and drop her off everyday. Now, Monday thru Thursday my mom or cousin Kim drop her off at school. I get to pick her up everyday and Fridays I get to do both now. We try to walk or ride our bikes to school, but I have to admit, sometimes I drive because the thought of walking to and from school in that heat just about does me in! Grandma Thomas made her dress, too. She was so excited for Chloe and so badly wanted to make her outfit. Any time mom, anytime!

I can't believe she is in Kindergarten, but I am so happy she is loving school and WANTS to do homework. She is so eager to learn and we are trying our best to keep up with her! Good luck this year Chloe. We love you!!

Two be Remembered!

For Tilly's actual birthday, we kept with tradition and had waffles for breakfast with candles. We made a cake for lunch, and spaghetti for dinner - her favorite. We didn't do anything terribly exciting because, let's face it. Her birthday was on a Tuesday and Kevin works late and we were leaving to go camping just two days later. So, we kept it simple. But, I knew I had to make this party "big" and somewhat memorable because I totally dropped the ball last year and didn't do a big First birthday for her.

Party Day! I love her curls!

I think I did a pretty good job on her party, if I do say so myself! I have never made a birthday outfit for the girls, so Tilly was extra lucky to get an outfit (trying to ease my guilt from last year, can you tell?). I found this fabric and fell in love with it. I went with a pink theme and got a lot of ideas from different pics I had seen on pinterest (my latest hobby). There are so many creative people out there in the world! I am glad I can copy them.

And of course, I made this banner a few months ago just for this party. I figured staying in the pink family of fabrics was pretty safe for 3 girls. We will get a lot of use out of this.

I had a pink dessert table with Pink Rice Krispie Treats, dipped marshmallows, candy goody bags, jelly beans, and taffy. I was going to do a bundt cake for my little cake stand, BUT the night before the party it totally fell apart when I tried to take it out of the pan! I hate that!!! So, it was all cupcakes. Thankfully, I have a ton of cake boxes in my pantry! Then I used the extra fabric from her outfit to decorate the table and vases. I love the way it turned out. I only wish I had a larger table to fill. I can see how people can go all out on these birthday parties. Once you get going, it is hard to stop. All the goodies turned out so good! I love my hanging pom poms.
